Research Workshop – Caroline Molloy

On Tuesday 5th March 2013, we had an hour long workshop discussing the skill of research. Within this workshop we debated a number of questions before moving on to marking each others project research. Below are the notes that I took from this session:

What do you think research is?

  • Collection of relevant information
  • Understanding of context
  • Primary and secondary

When do you do research?

  • At the start of the project
  • When an idea is established
  • Continuous
  • As the project develops
  • Re-visit

Why do you do research?

  • Inspiration
  • Influence
  • Inform the project
  • Develop

It is a skill that can be applied to day-to-day life

We are looking at research in a larger context

We are being an active observer rather than a passive
