  • Assignment 1 – 7th January 2014
    • Very short 1500 word essay – basically your plan; summarize what you have done already to prepare for this module, how it will help your career, what your fallback plan is; based on a SWOT (find below) and skills analysis

  • Assignment 2 – 14th May 2014
    • What you’ve learnt
    • What do you take away from it?
    • Decisions
    • Presented as a 5 minute video – along with a physical presentation
    • Share them with your course groups

    • Student Handbook – Work placements
    • Steps:
      • Placement should be verbally agreed by your tutor
      • Should fill in the online WP01 form (can be found on Moodle along with a draft copy)
      • Tutor will complete a risk assessment with you
      • Start pack will be emailed to employer and student to complete
      • Need to email it back to creativefutures.ad@coventry.ac.uk
      • Once placement is completed, student should complete evaluation form and email back to address above
      • (If duties change, need to notify them)
      • (Can’t accept hand written copies – can accept scans)

    • One WP01 form for all freelance work even if there are more than one shoot – risk assessment must be done, however, for each job (will go through it with us at a later date)

SWOT Analysis:

  • Strengths – personal influence
  • Weaknesses – personal influence
  • Opportunities – external influence
  • Threats – external influence
  • Idea is to turn the weaknesses and the threats into strengths and opportunities
  • Come back to it over and over again
  • Completing a SWOT analysis on this Module
    • Strengths – Learn new skills, confidence, better CV,
    • Weaknesses – Independence can be threatening, paperwork, rejection can knock your confidence, time consuming, financial difficulties, don’t have a guarantee of a job afterwards
    • Opportunities – Contacts, networks, chance to operate outside the comfort zone, experience, potential for future employment
    • Threats – Can be taken advantage of, competition, time management
  • Should all do personal SWOT – SHOULD NOT PUT IT ON YOU CV but you can add it on your first assessment (won’t be marked down for not doing it, but might get extra points for doing it)
